As the summer evenings get longer and (hopefully) warmer, you might be thinking of activities you can do. A trip […]
Opened in July in 2012 by Simon O’Connell, the aim of the O’Connell family is to have a pub with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where locals and visitors can feel at home and enjoy a chat and a pint. We are lucky to have great, friendly staff who we believe really help us achieve this.
The pub is on two levels. Food is served on both floors all day. Downstairs is where you can listen to live music at the weekends and enjoy the view. The stunning view from upstairs is second to none. You can see right out over the harbour to Ireland’s Eye and Lambay Island. This is a very popular spot for our famous cocktails in the early evenings.
Guinness is a dark Irish dry stout that originated in the brewery of Arthur Guinness at St. James’s Gate, Dublin, Ireland, in 1759. It is one of the most successful beer brands worldwide, brewed in almost 50 countries, and available in over 120. It is by far the most popular Irish Pint.
Our pint has also become famous amongst the local Guinness drinkers and we are delighted to say that we are said to serve ‘a great pint of the black stuff’. If you haven’t sampled Ireland’s most famous pint yet then O’Connell’s Bar in the beautiful Howth Harbour is the perfect spot for you to try it.
We also serve all kinds of beverages both alcoholic and non- alcoholic. For the cider drinkers you cannot pass by Ireland’s second favourite drink Bulmers Cider. Known worldwide as Magners this beautiful Irish cider is a must for a Summers day, served over a a pint glass of ice.
We take great pride in the food we serve. Kieron Flood is our fantastic local chef. Kieron is well known with local suppliers and is always on the hunt for the freshest produce available. His specials on the day brought to you by local fishermen, you cannot get any closer than Dorans on the West Pier your seafood is quite literally from the sea straight to your plate. The mouth watering shellfish cannot be missed. Our local butcher Ray Collier supplies our beef which is direct from the beautiful Lambay Island. Our allotment in Howth Village is currently growing organic vegetables, berries and herbs which we are delighted to serve you.
